When Ontario Volkswagen shoppers look for a compact sedan, the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta is their natural choice. The Jetta seats five and provides lots of space for passengers, a quiet interior and the technology features today’s buyers expect. The Jetta also gets Volkswagen’s generous 6-year/72,000-mile transferable bumper-to-bumper warranty.
According to the VW dealer near Ontario, the Jetta’s 2019 redesign added a few inches to its length and gave it a longer wheelbase. These extra dimensions mean there’s more room in the front row to keep passengers comfortable. The 2019 Jetta now comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and drivers will appreciate the available driver assistance features, which include automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring.
The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta is offered in five trim levels, listed as S, SE, the new R-Line, SEL and SEL Premium. Additionally, there’s a performance-oriented version called the Jetta GLI, which we’re not covering here. Let’s look at the Jetta’s trims and see what each one brings to the table.
All Jetta models get a 1.4-liter turbo-four engine generating 147 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. On the base Jetta S trim, this unit is connected to a standard six-speed manual gearbox or an optional eight-speed automatic. Standard features include 16-inch wheels, power windows, power door locks, cloth upholstery, LED headlights, air conditioning, cruise control and a rearview camera. The Jetta also gets a stereo system with four speakers, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an infotainment setup with a 6.5-inch screen, Bluetooth, VW Car-Net App-Connect and a USB port.
Buyers can choose the optional Driver Assist package, which comes with rear cross traffic alert, forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring and autonomous emergency braking.
Move up to the SE trim and you’ll get everything that comes with the S trim. The SE and higher models get the eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard equipment. Other features that come standard include heated front seats, leatherette upholstery, dual-zone climate control, keyless access and push-button start, a sunroof, and the features of the S trim’s Driver Assist package.
Buyers who live in areas that experience cold winters will appreciate the Cold Weather package, which is optional on the SE, R-Line and SEL models. It adds remote start, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel.
