Monterey Volkswagen Shoppers Like The 2020 Volkswagen Atlas

Buyers looking for a midsize three-row SUV that provides plenty of interior space will appreciate the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas. Monterey Volkswagen shoppers report they’re impressed with the VW Atlas’ comfortable ride and excellent handling. The Volkswagen Atlas seats seven, making it the perfect SUV for larger families who need to take a load of kids to school, sports practice, family vacations or anywhere else they need to go. Making the Atlas an even more attractive buy is Volkswagen’s two years of free scheduled maintenance visits.

The 2020 Volkswagen Atlas is available in seven trim levels, listed as S, SE, SE with Technology, SE with Technology R-Line, SEL, SEL R-Line, and SEL Premium. The standard engine is a direct-injected 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder powerplant that makes 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. This engine is only offered with front-wheel drive. Fuel economy figures are estimated by the EPA at 20 mpg city/24 mpg highway.*

Buyers at dealerships like the Volkswagen dealer near Monterey can choose the optional direct-injected 3.6-liter V6 engine that generates 276 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. It’s also mated to the eight-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is available with the V6. Volkswagen hasn’t released fuel-economy numbers for the V6 as of the date of this writing. However, we expect the results to match last year’s figures of 17 mpg city/24 mpg highway with front-wheel drive and 17 mpg city/23 mpg highway with all-wheel-drive.

The 2020 Atlas Gets Automotive Press Praise

The automotive media gives the Volkswagen Atlas high praise. Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com wrote: “[I]t really is Volkswagen’s first rodeo in the 7-seater crossover-SUV arena. But it’s staying in the saddle thanks to competitive pricing, tempting technology, a dash of Euro flair in both the design and the driving experience, plus some good old-fashioned hospitality in the form of an accommodating and well-thought-out cabin.”
