Volkswagen Bulli Making a Comeback

Wednesday, April 30th, 2014

To all the old-school Volkswagen fans out there – the German automaker has a surprise for you all. According to autoevolution.com, a new generation of the Beetle will surface in the next years to come. A sub-line behind the VW Beetle will carry a Bulli and a sports car. The Bulli concept car that surfaces in early 2011, may actually become a production vehicle after all! This little van will have the capacity to sit five people and will be created on the same platform as the MQB. The new VW sports car is said to be a sport Beetle. This will finally silence a generation filled with critics and would take care need-for-speed car shoppers. Sources say that the fast Beetle will be equipped with a 300 PS 2-liter turbo or the 184 PS TDI. Although this sub-line can’t be expected until 2019, we are glad to know that Volkswagen is bringing back some of the Classics.

Volkswagen Reveals New Midsize Coupe in Beijing

Friday, April 25th, 2014

At the
Beijing Motor Show, earlier this week, Volkswagen presented a great looking
five-door sedan concept vehicle and called it ‘New Midsize Coupe.’ The vehicle
that is about the same size as a Jetta, is considered to be a sports sedan that
can be easily positioned below the VW Passat in the VW lineup. The new model
truly captures the design elements that are expected from future VW models
through its sporty proportions. With an aggressive lower air dam, seen on the
2015 Touareg, and LED headlight design, this new model could potentially become
one of VW’s top sellers. The five-seater
proves to have plenty of room for passengers and cargo – with 17 cubic
feet for storage, the new concept vehicle can be a comfortable ride for
everyone.

Volkswagen Promises New Phaeton

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014

Although it
has been eight years since the Phaeton has been taken off the market, the
Senior Vice President for Volkswagen, Michael Horn, made a statement at the New
York Auto Show that revealed Volkswagen’s future plans to build a new Phaeton
by 2019 – this time it might even make it onto the U.S. shores. Horn said that
a new Volkswagen Phaeton will be sold in the U.S. in either 2018 or 2019. The
model will be bassed on the Group’s next-generation MLB platform, which was
nicknamed MLB Evo. We can expect the new Phaeton to have top innovative
technology and a downsized engine from its previous models – maybe even
electric! In the past, the phaeton did not have significant sales numbers, but
the reason why Volkswagen will bring this model back is because the model
platform is expected to introduce the brand to new technologies that could flow
into other models.

Volkswagen Group Malaysia to Focus on Customer Satisfaction

Friday, April 11th, 2014

Recently
Volkswagen has shared their plans to collaborate with one of their authorized
dealers to improve Volkswagen customer satisfaction after-vehicle sale. This
idea stems from other German automotive companies that are developing this plan
in their home country. Volkswagen Group Malaysia has taken their first steps to
improve the relationship with customers after sales by announcing that 20
Volkswagen Service centers in Peninsular Malaysia will open on Sundays from 9AM
to 5PM for maintenance and service – this provides Volkswagen customers with
greater flexibility and convenience in maintaining their vehicles. The Managing
Director, Volkswagen Group Malaysia, Christoph Aringer says “Customer
satisfaction is an integral component of Volkswagen Group Malayasia, as it
contributes directly to the growth and development of our brand locally. Based
on the feedback we have garnered from our customers, we are taking steps to
increase the levels of service quality and customer satisfaction in order to
meet the needs and expectations of discerning Malaysian drivers.”

Volkswagen to Make Plug-in Hybrids in China

Wednesday, April 9th, 2014

Volkswagen
has been very successful in several different countires, but being that China,
a country known for its pollution, is their largest global market, forces VW to
reconsider the way they present themselves there. This year Volkswagen will
spend more money than ever before on research for better fuel efficiency and
all-electric options. It is expected for Volkswagen to make an announcement at
the upcoming Beijing Motor Show in regards to a hybrid electric vehicle in
China. Although not very many details have been released, sources say plug-ins
will likely be produced at VW’s Foshan Factory in South China. VW leads us to
believe that they are speeding up the development process of eco-friendly
models.

Volkswagen’s Speed Machine

Friday, April 4th, 2014

The Volkswagen Beetle has come a long way – but in 1998, Volkswagen introduced the world to the ‘New Beetle,’ which has taken a bubblier exterior look. It was not until 2012 that Volkswagen decided to switch it up once again. The 2012 model year released by Volkswagen was a stretched-looking coupe-ish car we have today. Although the current model year Beetle has changed quite a bit from the classic Type 1 Beetle, Volkswagen will not abandon its heritage. This year they are offering the limited edition Beetle GSR to pay tribute to cars of the same name from the 1970s – GSR is an acronym for Gelb Schwarzener Renner, which is translated to, yellow-black striped racer, in English. Aside from the paint, GSR graphics, and spoiler the car’s body is the same as the R-Line model.

Volkswagen: Over 40 years of Electric Cars

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014

Although there is a lot of talk about Volkswagen’s e-Golf being the first ever plug-in Volkswagen sold in the U.S., the truth is that the German carmakers has had several prototype electric cars and their history in this arena stretches further than you can imagine. Volkswagen has been experimenting with electric vehicles since the early 1970s – the creation of the Volkswagen Golf Rabbit platform was created to experiment with electric vehicle technology. Unfortunately, because these electric vehicles were built for experimentation, only a few were built. These cars served as a way for the motor company to gather a better understanding of how real world users treated cars with electric drive. The prototypes were equipped with heavy low-capacity-acid batteries which then upgraded to a heavy lead-acid-gel battery with an anemic 18.5-kilowatt electric motor.
