Thursday, July 27th, 2017

VW Dealers Bay Area and Cardinale Volkswagen in Salinas are excited to report the latest news from Autobild that the next generation of the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Golf R models will feature more power.  Everyone loves the concept of more power, and we can’t wait to see what changes Volkswagen has in store for its consumers!

New And Improved Volkswagen Golf GTI And Volkswagen Golf R

There’s much to look forward to in the next generation of the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Volkswagen Golf R.  The 2019 Volkswagen Golf GTI will feature an additional 40 horsepower, from the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine for a total of 250 horsepower.  Wow!  Hang on to your hats, it gets even better.  We’re told that the 2019 Volkswagen Golf R will tag on another 45 horsepower.  What this means is that the future VW Golf R will be boosted up to an incredible 350 horsepower.  Word is that Volkswagen hopes to make both the GTI and R models lighter as well.  There may also be changes to the powertrain, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.  However, there are plans underway to make the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Volkswagen Golf R more digital.  The cockpit may be redesigned as completely digital, which will win Volkswagen a lot of fans!

Cardinale Volkswagen Has Suggestions For Traveling With Elderly Family Members

Wednesday, July 26th, 2017

It’s summertime and Bay Area Volkswagen Dealers know that many of you will be taking road trips.  Some of you may be traveling with elderly family members.  Cardinale Volkswagen in Salinas has some tips you may wish to keep in mind if you will be bringing along elderly parents, relatives or companions.

Plan Ahead To Make Your Trip Carefree

When taking an elderly person along for the trip, help them organize what they will need to bring.  For instance, make sure they have an adequate supply of their daily medications.  It’s a good idea to have a list of all medications, along with phone numbers for their attending physicians.  Next, make sure they pack items like hearing aid batteries, extra eyeglasses if they have a spare pair, support hose, and any other equipment that they use on a regular basis.  For any seniors with dementia issues, consider getting them a medic I.D. bracelet if they don’t already have one.  Take along plenty of bottled water and snacks, a comfortable pillow and a blanket throw.

Make Frequent Stops

To make it easier on your elderly travel companions, don’t be in a rush to arrive at your destination.  Make frequent stops to stretch everyone’s legs, as sitting too long in a vehicle can create blood clots in the leg.  Take bathroom breaks and make sure someone accompanies your elderly traveler.  New places can be disorienting.  Use this time to make sure everyone drinks some water to stay hydrated and offer snacks.

 –

Involve Your Elderly Travelers

Keep your elderly travelers from becoming bored by involving them in the trip.  Converse with them and let them know what is being planned for that day.  Let them pick a restaurant of their choosing.  Ask them to tell stories about their favorite vacations from the past.

Cruise On Over To Cardinale Volkswagen

Volkswagen To Produce More Electric Vehicles Than Its Competitors

Tuesday, July 25th, 2017

With the global green movement moving forward, Volkswagen appears on the brink of initially producing more Electric Vehicles (EVs) than its competitors. Volkswagen is leaving behind diesel and plans an impressive line-up of EVs, according to Motorauthority.  Cardinale Volkswagen in Salinas and VW Dealers Bay Area are excited about the prospect of future EVs filling its dealership lots!

Leaked Photos Of Future Volkswagen Electric Vehicles

Motorauthority obtained leaked photos from Groen17 of the Electric Vehicles that Volkswagen has on its drawing board for introduction to the market as early as 2020.  Two of the future EVS have been identified as the I.D. Lounge and I.D. Aero.  The I.D. Aero is projected to be a sporty hatchback model.  Then, there is an EV simply named I.D. that is supposedly another hatchback, similar to the Golf.  A crossover SUV model will also be produced, dubbed the I.D. Cross.  The latter two probably won’t debut in North American markets.  However, the I.D. Lounge is a larger crossover and it’s expected that this EV may hit the U.S. market.

The Return Of The Volkswagen Microbus

The most exciting prospective Electric Vehicle that Volkswagen may have in the works is the I.D. Buzz, similar to the popular Volkswagen Microbus of days gone by.  The return of the Volkswagen Microbus is likely to stoke a lot of interest from U.S. consumers!

Three Rows Of Seating For 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan Compact SUV

Thursday, July 20th, 2017

According to Autoweek, the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan compact SUV will feature three rows of seating.  To make room for the third row, Volkswagen enlarged the Tiguan.  The addition of the third row was in response to consumer demand, as SUVs continue to be popular, especially in the North American market.  If you’d like to learn more about the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan, come to Cardinale Volkswagen, located in the Salinas Auto Mall.

The 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan Offers Flexibility

With three row seating, the 2018 Tiguan will seat four adults comfortably with additional room for children, including toddlers and infants in car seats.  You’ll find that the second row of seats will easily accommodate three passengers.  The third row is best suited to teenagers or children.  Seven is probably the magic number of occupants you can expect to ride in the 2018 Tiguan, but this is certainly an improvement for the Tiguan.  Note that three row seating is standard in front-wheel drive Tiguans, but it’s an extra expenditure for all-wheel drive Tiguans.  Even with three rows of seating, there is still cargo space behind the third seat.  The 2018 Tiguan features a turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine with 8-speed automatic transmission.  The exterior design is aesthetically pleasing, with a relatively tall frame.

A Fantastic Deal With 6-Year Or 72,000 Miles Transferrable Warranty

As an added incentive, Volkswagen has thrown in an appealing 6-year or 72,000 miles transferrable warranty.  This is an excellent marketing strategy, providing consumers with a win-win whereas resale value is concerned.  It makes it that much harder to walk away from a deal like that!

Cardinale Volkswagen Offers Suggestions For How You Can Increase Your Gas Mileage

Wednesday, July 19th, 2017

If you’re looking for ways to save at the pump by stretching your gas mileage further, Cardinale Volkswagen (located in the Salinas Auto Mall), has some ideas that might help you accomplish your goal.  It’s just smart to take advantage of ways to increase gas mileage.  Not only will you save money in the long run, but you’ll also prevent unnecessary wear and tear on your vehicle if you implement some of the following suggestions.

Drive A Newer Model

You’re most likely to get better gas mileage if you drive a late-model vehicle.  That’s because newer models are equipped for better fuel economy.  It’s possible to save thousands of dollars in gasoline costs by driving a newer model.

Eliminate Any Extra Weight

Empty your trunk or cargo space of any unnecessary items that are extra weight for your vehicle to haul.  This includes rooftop carriers, which can create wind resistance, making your vehicle work harder and burn more fuel than is necessary.  The lighter your vehicle is, the less fuel it will burn.

Become A More Friendly Driver

That’s right, ditch the aggressive driving and replace it with a more calm approach in your daily commute.  Avoid abrupt braking and pressing hard on the accelerator.  Driving hard eats up more fuel and contributes to wear and tear on your vehicle.

Be Aware Of Cold Weather Drain On Your Vehicle

In colder weather, your vehicle tends to work harder.  Even warming up your car can quickly burn fuel.  Instead of letting your car run while allowing the interior to warm up, start your car and wait just thirty seconds before slowly driving away.  You’ll be surprised how much gas that will save you!

Regular Maintenance Improves Fuel Economy

Make sure you keep your vehicle on a regular maintenance schedule.  By staying on schedule with oil filter changes, you’ll increase your gas mileage.  There are other things you can do also, like checking that your tires are properly inflated.  The latter is an often overlooked method for stretching your fuel economy.  Come to Cardinale Volkswagen for all your automotive needs.  Our friendly Service department features highly trained technicians and state-of-the-art equipment that can help you keep your vehicle running smoothly.

Stop by Cardinale Volkswagen in Salinas and let our Sales team show you the latest available Volkswagen models.  Or, see our website at www.CardinaleVW.com for current Volkswagen specials.  Start increasing your gas mileage and save money now with a brand new Volkswagen!

Volkswagen Vehicles Will Have Communication Capabilities By 2019

Tuesday, July 18th, 2017

Most everyone remembers Herbie from Disney’s “The Love Bug” movies, the lovable talking Volkswagen. Now, what once seemed far-fetched, appears to be reality as word is that Volkswagen vehicles will soon have the capability to talk or communicate with each other as early as 2019.  This advanced technology is welcomed by your local VW Dealers Bay Area and we’re sure you can hardly wait to experience cars that communicate with one another!

Communication Limited To Traffic Warnings And Local Information

Volkswagen has announced that its vehicles will be equipped with pWLAN or public Wireless LAN technology by 2019.  This is exciting news because it means that vehicles and infrastructure will be able to communicate with one another.  Initially, the distance that communications can be established is within a radius of 500 meters.  Although the communication is expected to be limited at the onset to traffic warnings and local information, over time more extensive communications will be possible.  Some examples of what may be possible in the not-so-distant future include real-time information about traffic signals and oncoming emergency vehicles.

Vehicles Equipped With pWLAN Will Be Able To “Talk” To One Another Regardless Of Make Or Model

The pWLAN technology complies with the automotive industry standard requirements and is designed to consistently communicate amongst other vehicles, regardless of the make or model.  Interestingly, the U.S. Department of Transportation has made it known that it is a priority to adapt these communication capabilities to vehicles, so it’s logical that more automakers will soon jump on board with equipping their models with pWLAN technology.

Three Podium Finishes in Ottawa for VW’s Andretti Rallycross

Thursday, July 13th, 2017

The Andretti Rallycross team overcame a difficult track and fierce competition in Ottawa to claim a 1-2 finish in Race 2. The Beetle GRC performed beautifully. To learn more and to test drive the latest Volkswagen Beetle models, come to Cardinale Volkswagen in Salinas where we are your Volkswagen dealers Bay Area.

About the Race
“This has been a tough weekend for everyone on the team, but we didn’t give up and it paid off in the end,” said Tanner Foust. “The Beetle GRC had a lot to contend with, but it handled this rough track beautifully and took us to two more important podiums.”

The Beetle GRCs were in top form in qualifying, earning 1-2 lockouts in each of the weekend’s sessions. During 2017, at least one Beetle GRC has led at the end of every qualifying session, proving the car’s ultimate speed when faced with a clean and open track.

After a red flag and restart for a first-lap incident, Tanner Foust was able to take over the lead, garnering him his second win of the season. It was also his second podium finish of the weekend.  Scott Speed had a strong start in the initial launch, but then got stuck behind a slower car. Speed was able to take advantage of a competitor’s mistake and raced ahead to a second-place finish.

At the start of the second half of the season, Volkswagen #AndrettiRallycross has scored four victories from six races, including an additional five podium finishes during the same period. “This a great spot for us to be at the season’s halfway mark,” Foust said. “There are still plenty of races to go, but we’ve got the cars, crew, and drivers to get it done, so I’m looking forward to a strong second half of the season.”

Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross also competed in Red Bull Global Rallycross’s inaugural visit to Indianapolis on Sunday, July 9.

Should I Fix Up My Old Car or Is It Time To Trade Up?

Wednesday, July 12th, 2017

Your car has broken down and you’re faced with a high repair bill. This isn’t the first time it’s happened, and you’re getting tired of pouring money into an aging machine. Would you be better off fixing your current vehicle, or is it really time to buy a new one? While there’s no clear-cut answer to these questions, our #CardinaleVW dealership in Salinas, your Volkswagen dealers Bay Area, recommends you consider this simple formula: if the repair costs are more than the value of the vehicle or more than one year’s worth of monthly payments, it’s time for another vehicle.

The Price of Wear and Tear
Even if you’ve taken good care of your car over the years, some high- priced repairs are unavoidable when cars reach the 90,000-100,000 mile mark. Rubber belts and hoses dry out and crack, metal on rotors warps or wears thin and electrical parts stop working. The timing belt is a big-ticket item on high-mileage cars, generally needing replacement around 100,000 miles. Our Cardinale Volkswagen technicians also recommend replacing the water pump and other drive belts at the same time. Around the 100,000 mile mark, your car will begin facing more repairs.

Why Buy New?
1) You won’t have to worry about future breakdowns. Repairing one problem with an older car doesn’t guarantee that another breakdown won’t happen. If you buy a new Volkswagen, you’ll have at least a six year warranty (or 72,000 miles, whichever comes first), so you won’t be facing major repairs anytime in the near future.
2) You’re tired of the back-and-forth to the repair shop.
3) You want something safer. Volkswagen has some of the most advanced safety technology available today.

Come to Cardinale Volkswagen To See the Latest Models

We can give you the information you need to make the decision that’s right for you. Our factory-trained technicians are always available to help with your Volkswagen care. If you decide on a new car, we can show you our extensive selection of new, certified pre-owned or used cars in our showroom. Visit us online at www.cardinalevw.com.
